Birthday Kisses

Birthday Kisses

Rehearsals have really stepped up here in Edinburgh with most of the cast and crew now in place. However in the midst of all the work there has been time for a bit of relaxing and the fact that Cleo, one of the characters in Kiss Me and You Will See How Important I Am, turned 22 tonight has provided a great opportunity to unwind over some chocolate muffins. Talk quickly turned to haikus and we’ve come up with some of our own on the theme of kissing. Hope you enjoy them!

Hands held in silence
Underneath the street light glow
I wait for the kiss.

A kiss is a gift
you can give in lust or love
but never take back

One final kiss goodbye
Quickly our hands break apart
Alone we walk home.

Treacle moves slowly
As I pour it on the floor
This’ll piss him off

‘Meaningless’ you said
pebbledash against my skin
my back to the wall

Anonymous mouth.
gin and tonic left me blind
kissing in the dark.

Plastic mannequin
Tongue against her smooth cool lips
Shoppers watch aghast.

And one final one from our published poet in residence, Rob, with his piece entitled “A jealous lover’s kiss”:

“Snow and cigarettes,”
You promised me, “nothing else.
that’s what you can taste.”
