Dublin set

Sunday’s Child are back in sunny Dublin!

Even though we’re UK based, Eva, Dan, David, Elspeth and myself are Irish so it feels good to be home. We spent this week frantically preparing for our run of Kiss me and You Will See How Important I am in the Project Arts Centre. We were there last year with My Best Friend and it’s a real honour to be asked back.

The week didn’t go without hiccups! Firstly, trying to fly our cast into the country proved harder than it looked, with CERTAIN PEOPLE missing their early morning flights – (I won’t name names. Let’s just say it was a leading lady. Not Elspeth) and other first time visitors to the country like Jassy and Jamall, lingering helplessly in the Dublin Airport Insomnia until the rest of us thought to answer our phones.

Building the set proved a challenge too. It’s the same blueprint design as our set in London, so as we settled down to build and paint it in Dan’s garden we thought it would be like second nature. We hadn’t counted on the bipolar Irish weather however, and were forced to improvise with gazebo covers and shower curtains when the heavens opened and threatened to ruin our handiwork! Luckily, it was alright in the night.

We’re now two nights into our five night run at the Projects Arts and it’s going great! Nobody has forgotten their dances midway, and we’ve had great audiences. Our first review from Le Cool Dublin came out this morning, and you can read it here.

Onwards and upwards!
